Israeli Strikes Hit 76 Areas in Lebanon, 21 Killed as Civilian Casualty Fears Grow

Escalating violence in the Middle East has raised fresh international concern after Israeli forces carried out widespread strikes across Lebanon, killing at least 21 people and injuring 29 others, according to the country’s Ministry of Public Health.

The latest wave of attacks began early Tuesday and continued throughout the day, affecting at least 76 towns, cities, and densely populated areas across the country. Officials say both airstrikes and artillery shelling were used, causing significant damage to residential neighbourhoods and spreading fear among civilians.

Government sources report that many of the injured have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while emergency response efforts remain ongoing in several areas. Authorities warn that the death toll could rise further as rescue operations continue in locations that are still difficult to access.

The ongoing conflict has led to a sharp increase in civilian casualties in Lebanon. Since the escalation of hostilities on 2 March, more than 2,000 people are believed to have been killed, according to various international monitoring groups.

Analysts say the latest strikes could further destabilise an already fragile security situation in the region. Concerns are mounting globally over the impact on civilian populations, with humanitarian organisations calling for an immediate ceasefire and stronger measures to protect non-combatants.

International bodies are closely monitoring developments and urging renewed diplomatic efforts to halt the violence. However, there are currently no clear signs of de-escalation, raising fears of a prolonged and intensifying conflict.
